Designer Injectables

Are Designer Injectables the New Thing in Plastic Surgery?

Designer Injectables

Despite the term “designer”, designer injectables do not refer to products with fancy brand names. Rather, they refer to products designed for use on very specific areas of the body – namely, the face. More and more doctors around the world report that the number of patients requesting designer injectables is on the rise. Here are some of the new ones you should keep an eye on.

Juvederm Voluma® XC

Juvederm is one of the oldest and most trusted facial fillers on the market. Since its introduction, millions of men and women around the world have used it for a variety of reasons, including to add volume to certain areas of the face and fill in deep creases. The newest product from the manufacturer, Juvederm Voluma® XC, is a thicker version of the already available product. It is still made from hyaluronic acid, and it is designed for the areas around the cheeks and mid-face. It helps to restore volume that is lost naturally due to the aging process, and the best part is that it can last for up to two years – much longer than any similar filler on the market.

Restylane® Silk

A bit like Juvederm, Restylane is a hyaluronic acid-based facial filler that has been around for several years. Most doctors utilize Restylane to treat creases and wrinkles that tend to form around the mouth, and some even use it to treat the hollowing that occurs under the eyes with age. The new “Silk” formulation of this tried-and-true filler promises the same exciting results in the lips. Many hyaluronic acid fillers are simply too thick for injection into the lip area, and Restylane is the answer. More and more doctors are getting on board, and their patients are thanking them for it.

Other New Products

A couple of the other most popular designer injectables include Bellafill and Radiesse, which more and more physicians are beginning to use. Bellafill is a product designed specifically for the treatment of mild to moderate acne scarring, and Radiesse is the only filler of its kind since it is designed to restore the youthful texture of your hands, where you are most likely to show the signs of aging first.

In the Works

Although both Juvederm Voluma® XC and Restylane® Silk are already available in doctors’ offices around the world, the real excitement is just now hitting the shelves. For example, Belotero Soft is a product that claims to fill fine lines and wrinkles in very sensitive parts of the face where traditional dermal fillers cause significant discomfort. Another awesome product that is currently in development is RT001 – otherwise known as topical Botox. Imagine being able to apply a substance to your skin that would relax even deep dynamic lines and wrinkles.

Although designer injectables have been around for quite some time now, people are only now beginning to truly embrace them. To date, millions of people have received Botox, Restylane, and Juvederm treatments, and millions more are waiting to try the injectables slated to hit the market in the near future.
