Fractionated CO2 Laser Resurfacing Treatment
Do you have more age spots, fine lines, wrinkles, scarring or uneven skin coloration than you’d like to admit? If so, why not schedule a consultation with us to find out more about how our fractionated CO2 laser resurfacing treatment can reduce the appearance of these imperfections? This procedure can even address skin laxity and a dull overall skin tone as well.
C02 Carbon Dioxide Fractional Laser Resurfacing removes layers of skin tissue in a fractionated method to help reduce “age-spots,” fine lines, wrinkles, scarring, uneven coloration, skin laxity, textural irregularities, dull tone, and a thinned collagen layer of the face, neck, and chest.
The treatment takes approximately one hour with pre- and post-treatment medication to ensure proper patient comfort and healing. Most patients describe the post treatment as a bad sunburn. CO2 healing time is seven to 14 days. It is the best single treatment for advanced skin damage and wrinkling. Only one treatment with CO2 is typically recommended. Follow-up treatments can be done as needed with Dr. Mardirossian’s evaluation.
Laser Skin Resurfacing Results with a Single Treatment
Unlike numerous other procedures that can require several treatments before any change becomes noticeable, fractionated CO2 laser resurfacing is an in-office procedure that can provide visible results with a single treatment session. In most cases, the treatment sessions takes approximately one hour, including administering pre- and post-treatment anesthesia and/or medication to ensure maximum patient comfort and healing.
Most patients who have had this treatment administered have noted that it feels like they have bad sunburn afterwards. However, this will normally only last for between 12 hours and two days after treatment and the level of discomfort experienced will depend on the depth of the treatment received. You will also need to ensure that you follow instruction regarding the use of prescribed pain medication, as this will reduce your after-treatment discomfort levels as much as possible.

How the Laser Works
This laser device consists of a portable hand piece, which can be used in a similar manner to that of a scalpel. This unit enables the laser to vaporize and coagulate as it moves across the skin, resulting in far less bruising, bleeding, and swelling on the areas being treated. You will be able to enjoy a far shorter recovery time with little to no severe discomfort afterwards.
The laser resurfacing device being used in our clinic also causes new skin cells to reproduce more rapidly and the unit has been designed to treat areas from as small as 5mm in size up to around 30mm, enabling freckles and other skin spots to be treated as quickly and effectively as possible.
Follow Up and Maintenance for Laser Skin Resurfacing
Although a single fractionated CO2 laser treatment is usually sufficient to obtain the desired results, additional treatments may be required to address areas that cannot be aggressively treated the first time. In some cases, maintenance treatments may need to be administered as well, especially if you don’t avoid exposure to the sun or take proper care of your skin afterwards. On extremely rare occasions, a follow-up treatment may need to be administered within one to two years, especially on the delicate skin around the eyes.
Fractionated CO2 laser resurfacing is not recommended for women who are pregnant or anyone who has used any form of Accutane or isotretinoin treatment in the six months prior to having this treatment. If you have had any form of medical procedures or treatment recently, it is advisable that you inform your therapist beforehand.
