Male Breast Reduction
Many men suffer from an excess of breast tissue due to age or excessive weight. This condition—called gynecomastia—can be treated effectively using a minimally invasive technique. This procedure is preceded by a careful evaluation which determines what the underlying causes of the gynecomastia are. If there are no serious health complications, the procedure can proceed.
This non-surgical male breast reduction is performed under local anesthesia. A specialized laser is employed to create a small channel in the breast, into which a small liposuction cannula is inserted. The unwanted fat and breast tissue is then removed. In rare cases where there is very fibrous breast tissue, a small incision may be made in the nipple to remove it. This incision heals quickly and is usually undetectable.
In cases where there is also a large amount of excess skin, a specialized “RF” device is inserted beneath the skin to aid in shrinkage. The patient may return home following surgery, and return within 24 to 48 hours for a follow-up examination and post-operative care.
